Pour Hêtre

The life of a tree inspires the movement of these two natural acrobats.

Journalist Jean-Paul Grousset once said something akin to, “Without yew, the whole world seems depoplar-ated.” Embodying this tree-related wordplay, Compagnie Ieto delves into the woods and creates a show for three living beings, one of which is a tree. What happens when two acrobats start a dialogue with the tree, whose feet are rooted into the ground and whose head brushes the sky? Perhaps these three are not so different after all. Flexible and fluid, the acrobatics seek a playful balance, evoking the echo of another proverb: “The tree prefers calm, but the wind does not stop blowing.”
