Carte Blanche

The Taiwanese circus unveils its hair-raising art of object manipulation.

Espace Catastrophe / Festival UP! - Archipel 19

Formed in 2011 in Taipei, FOCA (Formosa Circus Art) expands the horizons of circus art from the island of Taiwan. Its shows combine traditional culture, street culture and theatre arts to develop its own unique and invigorating style. Specially for the UP! Festival, this Asian team will present a new duo, created by the circus’s art director Tsung-Hsuan Lee. You will witness the encounter of two artists of great technical mastery: Kuan-Ting Chen (hat manipulation) and Kuan-Rong Huang (juggling with cubes). An exotic project, orchestrated from Taipei with the help of Tai-Jung Yu, playwright and head of international affairs for FOCA.

With support from the Taiwanese Cultural Centre of Paris.
